PrepNG ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us when you:

• Create an account
• Complete your profile
• Make purchases
• Take quizzes and practice tests
• Take mock exams
• Contact us for support

Personal Information

The types of personal information we may collect include:

• Email Address: Used for account creation and authentication
• Display Name: Your chosen username displayed on leaderboards and within the app
• Department: Your selected academic department (Science, Arts, or Commercial)
• Payment Information: Processed securely through Paystack (we do not store credit card details)
• FCM Token: A device token used to deliver push notifications to your device

Usage Information

We automatically collect certain information when you use the App:

• Quiz Results: Your scores, answers, and performance history
• Mock Exam Results: Your scores, subject breakdowns, and timestamps for JAMB mock exams
• Bookmarks: Questions you save for later review
• Streak Data: Your daily activity streak, including login dates and study consistency
• Leaderboard Data: Your weekly scores and display name, visible to other users on the leaderboard
• Subject Purchases: Records of which subjects you've unlocked
• Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version
• App Activity: Features used, time spent, and interaction patterns
• Question of the Day Responses: Your answers to daily practice questions

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve our services
• Process your payments and purchases
• Track your learning progress, quiz performance, and mock exam history
• Maintain your daily study streak and reward consistent engagement
• Display your scores on the weekly leaderboard
• Deliver push notifications including the daily Question of the Day
• Personalize your experience based on your department
• Send you important updates about the app
• Respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or fraud
• Comply with legal obligations

3. Leaderboard & Public Data NEW

PrepNG features a weekly leaderboard that displays user performance rankings. Please be aware that:

• Your display name and weekly score are visible to all registered users of the app
• Leaderboard data is reset weekly
• You can update your display name at any time in the app's Settings to control how you appear publicly
• No other personal information (email, department, purchase history) is visible on the leaderboard

4. Push Notifications NEW

PrepNG uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to send push notifications, including:

• Daily Question of the Day reminders
• Important app updates and announcements

To enable notifications, we collect and store your device's FCM token. You can opt out of notifications at any time by:

• Disabling notifications in your device's system settings for PrepNG
• Logging out of the app, which unregisters your device token

We do not use push notifications for marketing or advertising purposes.

5. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

Third-Party Service Providers

• Firebase (Google): For authentication, database, cloud functions, and push notifications infrastructure
• Paystack: For secure payment processing (₦500 per subject)

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental request, or to:

• Protect our rights, property, or safety
• Protect the rights, property, or safety of our users
• Prevent fraud or abuse

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information:

• Encryption: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using SSL/TLS
• Firebase Security: Your data is stored in Google's secure Firebase infrastructure with enforced security rules
• Secure Authentication: Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text
• Payment Security: All payment processing is handled by Paystack's PCI-compliant systems
• Data Isolation: Your quiz history, bookmarks, mock exam results, and streak data are only accessible by your own account

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services:

• Quiz & mock exam history: Retained until you clear it in the app or delete your account
• Bookmarks: Retained until you remove them or delete your account
• Streak data: Retained while your account is active
• Leaderboard scores: Reset weekly; not permanently retained
• FCM tokens: Removed upon logout or account deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

Access and Update

• View and update your profile information in the app's Settings
• Access your quiz history, mock exam results, and purchase records in the Progress screen
• View and manage your bookmarked questions
• Clear your quiz history directly from within the app

Notifications

• You can disable push notifications at any time via your device's system settings
• Logging out of the app will also unregister your device from receiving notifications

Marketing Communications

• We do not send marketing emails
• Push notifications are limited to study reminders (Question of the Day) and essential app updates

9. Children's Privacy

PrepNG is intended for users aged 13 and older, primarily students preparing for JAMB and WAEC examinations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your country, where data protection laws may differ. By using PrepNG, you consent to the transfer of your information to Nigeria and other countries where we operate.

11. Third-Party Services

Our App uses the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google LLC)

• Purpose: Authentication, database, cloud functions, and push notifications (FCM)

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Sending an in-app notification for significant changes

Your continued use of PrepNG after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

13. Data We Do NOT Collect

For transparency, we want to clarify that we do NOT collect:

• Profile pictures or photos
• Location data or GPS coordinates
• Contacts from your device
• Phone numbers or SMS messages
• Camera or microphone access
• Information from other apps on your device
• Biometric data

By using PrepNG, you consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to its terms.
